Our service is done using professional dryer air duct cleaning equipment. Prior to cleaning, we will turn the dryer on and locate the exit of the dryer duct, to determine if there is any airflow. We will then disconnect the dryer from the power source, pull the dryer away from the wall, and remove the hose from the dryer. The lint screen is cleaned and the exhaust duct that exits out of the back of the dryer. We pick up any items that may have fallen behind the washer and dryer and vacuum clean the area. A rotary brush is fed through the dryer duct removing compacted lint with a commercial HEPA filtered vacuum suctioning at the same time. Before we complete the service, we will inspect the exit on the roof or side of the home to make sure there are no blockages. Our goal is to make sure the duct is clear of any blockages, allowing the dryer to operate safely and efficiently.
Water that becomes trapped inside the duct, a disconnected duct, years of use without the duct being cleaned, or improper cleaning methods. These things can turn a routine service into a lengthy job. Preventative maintenance will save you money on service costs as well as energy costs. A clogged dryer vent restricts airflow and causes the dryer to work harder to dry your clothes. Your dryer may be energy efficient, but not when you restart it two or three times.
One of the biggest reasons for water in a dryer duct is a dirty or clogged dryer vent. The restricted air flow in the duct can lead to a large amount of water accumulating inside/ of the duct. One load of laundry can produce up to three liters of water.
From leaf blowers to substandard equipment, the internet is full of information, so you can DIY anything. If your dryer duct runs longer than a few feet, the more bends and lint build-up it will have. Like the snowball effect, lint is gunky and when it gets forced to one end of the duct the bigger the clog gets. Save your leaf blower for the yard and give us a call.
Whether it is disconnected in the wall or in the attic, you will want to fix this issue right away. Moisture from your dryer creates a rainforest-like environment that is a serious hazard to your home and health. This can cause mold to grow and structural damage to your home.
